Despite the name registration by Toyota and in the press often announced new Toyota Supra, according to recent statements, the name Supra is anything but chiseled in the stone.

Today, on the 1st of December, the LA Auto Show started in Los Angeles, where the editors of AutoGuide.com had the opportunity to conduct an interview with Vice President and General Manager Jack Hollis of Toyota.

"Yes, we have other ideas and yes, the name Supra is being considered".

"The reason for the discussion is the great legacy of the name Supra," Hollis said, adding, "The name decision will not be made until next year. There are a few other candidates for other reasons that are just as strong."

Despite Toyota's apparent indecision, this has not stopped the Internet and the press from making their own conclusions, and here Hollis also explains the passive attitude to all media or rumors, as we know them from Toyota.

"In today's social media world, we're leaving everything that way, because it could even help us find a final answer."

Already in our Celica community , some "insiders" expressed the information that the new Supra might get a different name (maybe even Celica). So you're completely not in agreement with Toyota.

Recently rumors arose that the new Supra with the label Gazoo Racing would not even wear a Toyota logo, which we do not want to confirm based on some interior pictures.

Hollis could not name a specific release date because it was " fluctuating ", but next year Toyota wants to provide specific information about the eagerly awaited new vehicle. So we do not have to wait long.

The upcoming sports car from Toyota is about to start, so it remains to be seen which name to choose and when to buy it from the dealers.

However, Hollis repeatedly mentioned: "The name Supra is definitely a leading candidate"

What do you all mean? Can Toyota's new model live up to the name Supra?
