23-pin engine diagnostic connector

• To query the active DTCs, turn on the ignition and wait about 20 seconds.
• Bridge terminals El and TC of the motor diagnostic connection (Fig. 1)
• Count the flashing of the SRS indicator light.
• Note the error codes.
• Compare with error code table.
• To interrogate the occasional error codes, turn off the ignition.
• Switch on ignition. Approximately Wait 20 seconds.
• Count the flashing of the SRS indicator light.
• Note the error codes.
• Compare with error code table.
• Each error code consists of two flashing groups (Fig. 2)
• The individual flashes are separated by pauses of 05 seconds (Fig. 2) [B]
• The individual groups are separated by pauses of 1.5 seconds (Fig. 2) [C]
• The error code is repeated after a pause of 4 seconds Fig. 2 [E].
• Example: Error code 31 (Fig. 2)
• Switch off the ignition. Fix displayed errors.
• The fault reader of the SRS ECU can also be polled with a diagnostic device on the engine diagnostic connector.

16-pin engine diagnostic connector

• Note the error codes.
• Compare with error code table.
• If the warning light flashes once per second: No error found.
• If the warning light flashes once every 2 seconds: Temporary error codes stored.
• To interrogate the occasional error codes, turn off the ignition.
• Switch on ignition. Approximately Wait 60 seconds.

Turn off the fault code / airbag signal

Often you have when removing the dashboard, which usually carries the separation of the main cable to the ignition with you, the problem that hereafter the airbag signal lights. This is an error signal and can only be removed by Toyota's computer.

However, this problem can be eliminated absolutely safely with a little trick. To do this, open the diagnostic cap in the engine compartment and insert a long piece of wire into ports AB and TC.

Now turn the ignition switch to ON and change the two connected wires in a rhythm of about one second at the negative pole of the battery. (TC, AB, TC, AB, TC, AB ... etc.)

It can take a while until it works. If this does not work right away, then you should change the rhythm speed.

Of course, it is helpful if someone in the driver's compartment pays attention to the airbag signal.
